Bet On Markets, an online betting site allowing punters to make fixed-odds bets on financial markets, is preparing to float on the Alternative Investment Market. Jean-Yves Sireau, a director of Fixed-Odds Capital, the website’s owner, was in London last week to discuss the flotation with potential investors. The Malta-based website is one of very few offering fixed-odds bets on shares and indices. It has obtained a UK bookmaking licence and will launch in Britain soon. Fixed-Odds Capital is half-owned by Hong Kong company iRegent but the Asian group is unlikely to dilute its shareholding when Betonmarkets goes public. 20 May 2001
