VANCOUVER (CP) — Shares of Fronteer Development Group Inc. rose more than 11 per cent Thursday after the junior miner announced it had found gold deposits on a property in Turkey.

Fronteer stock was halted Thursday on the TSX pending the news but later traded at $1.95, up 11 cents or 11.43 per cent, on the day. Earlier, the Vancouver company (TSX:FRG) said it had found «significant oxide gold mineralization» in its first drill hole on the Kirazli project in western Turkey.

More mineral drilling will continue throughout 2005 on the Kirazli property, which is under option to Fronteer from a Teck Cominco subsidiary.

Fronteer explores for gold in western Turkey as well as gold, uranium and copper in Canada.
